Toronto Pearson has two terminals, and they are not connected on the arrivals side. If your driver is waiting at the wrong one, you could lose 20–30 minutes just getting from one building to the other. Terminal 1 or Terminal 3? Here’s how to tell

Pearson splits its airlines by alliance, not by domestic versus international. That’s the part that trips most travelers up — flying internationally doesn’t automatically mean Terminal 1, and a domestic flight doesn’t automatically mean Terminal 3.

Terminal 1 is home to Air Canada, Air Canada Rouge, and the rest of the Star Alliance network, along with Emirates. If you’re flying Air Canada from anywhere in the world, you’re almost certainly landing here. It’s the larger of the two buildings, with 58 gates spread across three piers.

Terminal 3 handles WestJet, Air Transat, Porter, Flair, and every Oneworld and SkyTeam airline — that includes American Airlines, British Airways, Air France, KLM, Delta, and others. It’s the older of the two terminals, with 46 gates across three concourses.

If you’re not sure which one applies to you, the fastest way to check is your boarding pass or itinerary — it will say “Terminal 1” or “Terminal 3” right on it. You can also check the airline’s confirmation email or the Pearson Airport app, which shows live terminal and gate assignments in case anything changes.

Where your limo actually picks you up

This is the part most guides skip, and it’s the part that actually matters once you’ve landed. Pearson assigns specific curbside doors to taxis and limos at each terminal, and licensed vehicles are not allowed to pick up inside the terminal or in the parking garages — only at the designated curb.

At Terminal 1, Arrivals Level: Limos pick up at Door C. Taxis use Door D, so if you see vehicles lined up at the wrong door, walk a little further down the curb.

At Terminal 3, Arrivals Level: Both limos and taxis use Door E.

What if you have a connecting flight between terminals?

Because Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 aren’t connected on the airside (gate-to-gate) level, any connection between the two requires you to land, collect your bags, and move to the other terminal yourself if you’re switching terminals before continuing on. The free Terminal Link train connects both terminals along with the parking areas, and runs 24 hours a day — but this is for moving between terminals, not for reaching your limo pickup, which always happens curbside at Arrivals.

If your limo is picking you up after a connection, just confirm with your chauffeur which terminal your final arriving flight lands at, since that’s the terminal your pickup will be scheduled for.
